Meet Zelda
Author, Coach and Entrepreneur
When I was a little girl I was very shy and reserved. I was the only girl in the family and had a lot of time to myself. I used writing to create an imaginary getaway. I did not realize at that time, that my writing would be a gift I would eventually share with others. This book project has allowed me to do just that!
In 1997, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer. At that time I, at the age of 37, was unmarried with no children. Being the youngest of three siblings and the only one living in close proximity to my parents, the role of caregiver automatically became a part of my life.
Shortly after losing my Dad in 1998, I soon found myself in the exact same position when my mother became ill in 2000. While I was blessed to have the support of family and friends, it was extremely difficult to work full-time, be a caregiver and remain focused on my own self-care and wellness.
Then suddenly I tragically lost my mother in a way I never imagined...
"Journaling was a big outlet for me to release
the feelings and emotions that would have
otherwise become bottled inside."

"With Faith, All Things Are Possible"

Before I ever became an author, published a journal or became a Christian Life Coach, I was a caregiver—first for my father, then for my mother. It was one of the most sacred, painful, and transformative seasons of my life. Through it all, journaling became my safe place. I wrote my prayers. I processed my grief. I wrestled with exhaustion and rediscovered my faith, one page at a time.

Out of those experiences—and the words that poured out during the hardest nights—I founded My Healing Places, a nonprofit devoted to supporting women caregivers through community, wellness, and restorative journaling. If you’re walking through a caregiving journey, or know someone who is, I invite you to learn more.
